Dear Jacob,

One year ago today, you, your Daddy and I began a tremendous journey.  It seems so long ago since you were in my tummy, I can hardly remember life without you!  Motherhood is a lot harder than I expected, but your smiles melt my heart.  Your Daddy and I would do anything for you and will always be here to love and support you.  Your big brown “flirty flirty” eyes are irresistible!

From the beginning you have been a good baby, excepting your sleeping difficulties.  You are happy, playful and easy to please.  You love to eat, play with your toys and read books.  Many friends, family and strangers remark on your adorable looks and charming personality.  Babysitters seem to adore you and sitters in the drop-off day care at the JCC reportedly fight over who gets the honor of feeding you.  (I admit, your reflexively open mouth & loud smacking do make it quite satisfying for the feeder.)

Thinking back over this past year, I remember lots of bonding nursing time.  You are quite a cuddle bunny when it comes to nursing time, and we’ve spent hours gazing into each other’s eyes while you nurse – me trying to figure out what’s going on in that noggin of yours, you trying to figure out this whole new world.

You’ve become quite the speedy crawler and cruiser recently and should begin walking relatively soon.  Your Daddy and I can’t wait to be there and see that breakthrough and the many, many more to come.  You are a very special boy and I am lucky to be your Mommy.  I love you.
